I know some of you might think that all backpacks are unisex. If that is the case, why have a category for backpacks for women?
Well, there are unisex backpacks, and then there are specialised backpacks for each gender.
Men and women have different special needs, and this is also evident in the backpacks that they carry. Concisely, this boils down to a lot of factors.
Hmmm, what factors are involved in this case?
Men are generally rugged individuals who can haul a lot of weight on their backs and may occasionally carry some bulky gear such as cameras, light machinery, and other tools. On the other hand, women are not known to be extreme with regards to the load capacities of their backpacks.
You see, ladies need backpacks that do not put so much strain on them. For instance, they might need extra padding on their bags to make them more comfortable. In another case, they might require a backpack that adjusts to their body frames so as not to experience unnecessary fatigue after all those expeditions.
Thus, this calls for a special kind of backpack. Backpacks for women are thus available to serve this category of deserving customers.
However, there is nothing wrong with a woman carrying around a backpack that is not labelled as ‘women’s’! The choice is pretty much that of the buyer.
Without further ado, here are our best picks for women’s backpacks.
NB: These are not arranged in any order.

AOTIAN Mini Waterproof Nylon Women’s Backpack
Probably, you’re wondering… ‘why is there no light-duty ladies backpack in this review?’
This, in my opinion, is a plus considering the many things that women carry that deserve to be protected from water.
But if it is a lightweight backpack for the ladies, why not just carry a handbag?
This backpack does much more and here’s why…
It is made out of very strong lining, that is non-toxic, has no odour, wear resistant and breathes freely. Additionally, its back is well padded giving it a comfortable feel in case you carry some heavy stuff (of course not the large gear that may rip this backpack apart).
Surprisingly, this bag looks small (yes, it is) but, is also very roomie which gives it an edge over a conventional handbag. Additionally, it has multiple zippered pockets and water bottle pockets.
Best of all, its shoulder straps are slightly padded so they don’t dig into your shoulders. They also don’t slip off your shoulders either.
To me, this is so much from something that looks so small. Clearly, big things come in small packages. Undeniably, it’s quite a bargain considering what it can do for such a small price tag.
Thus, this is the go-to backpack when you don’t need that heavy one, and the handbag just won’t do it due to its size.
I would not be wrong if I said that it is one of the best small/lightweight backpacks for women, if not the best.

Osprey Packs Women’s Tempest 20 Backpack

It also has a helmet attachment system, a peripheral frame sheet to transfer the load evenly across the mesh back panel, shoulder harness and hip belt that are easily adjustable for on-the-go comfort, and compression straps add stability when you’re negotiating rough terrain at speed.
Sounds fantastic for cycling enthusiasts!
Yes, it does, plus there’s more…
It comes with a zippered slash pocket and two mesh side pockets and a convenient mesh front panel where you can keep some small gear. Also, the hip belt has two zippered pockets that allow easy access to gear such as your camera, and there is an external hydration sleeve for rapid reservoir refills.
Also, on the exterior, it comes with a trekking pole attachment system and an ice tool attachment loop to hold your sticks and pick when you don’t need them in your hands.
As if that’s not all, this backpack has a multi-functional design since it has been made to carry just as well during high and low speeds.
Undoubtedly, of the backpacks for women that we have reviewed here, this one combines both sportiness and ruggedness. It’s quite a good choice for ladies who are on the adventurous go!
